How to Play

Cosmic Defender is a retro-styled vertical shooter in which a single starship stands between the galaxy and a full-scale invasion. Enemy formations sweep down the screen in waves, from nimble interceptors to hulking juggernauts, and your ship slides from side to side, blasting upward to break them apart before they break through. Each level is built around a series of these assaults and ends with a distinctive boss that demands patience and careful dodging. Clear every level and the ultimate final boss awaits. Holding fire keeps your guns running constantly, so most of your attention goes on positioning, weaving between incoming shots while keeping enemies in your line of fire. High scores and lifetime statistics are tracked, giving you a reason to return and improve after every attempt.

Controls

Move the ship with the mouse cursor, by dragging on touch screens, or with A or the Left Arrow and D or the Right Arrow. Hold the mouse button, hold a touch or hold the Spacebar to fire. Press Escape or P to pause.

Tips

1. Keep sliding sideways to stay clear of incoming shots.
2. Learn each boss's attack pattern before going on the offensive.
3. Break up formations early, before they spread across the screen.
