How to Play

Order of Operation Challenge is a quick math quiz that tests whether you can work through expressions in the correct order. Each question shows an expression and four possible answers, and you must pick the right one before the timer runs out. The rules are the familiar ones taught in school: anything inside brackets comes first, then powers and roots, then multiplication and division working left to right, and finally addition and subtraction, also taken left to right. Getting the order wrong usually leads straight to one of the tempting wrong answers on offer. You can choose Easy, Normal, Hard or Pro mode, and answering fifteen questions moves you on to the next level. Harder modes award more experience, which makes it a handy practice tool for students and a fun refresher for adults.

Controls

Use a mouse or touchpad to select the correct answer from the four options before time runs out.

Tips

  1. Scan the expression for brackets before doing anything else.
  2. Work multiplication and division strictly from left to right.
  3. Start in Easy mode to build speed before moving up to Pro.
